RECOSI launches 2025 Annual Report

London, UK – Today, the Responsible Commodities Sourcing Initiative (RECOSI) has published its 2025 Annual Report. The report highlights a year of strategic growth, programme expansion and continued collaboration to advance responsible sourcing across global energy commodity supply chains.
During 2025, RECOSI reached a major milestone with the launch of its first three-year strategy. Developed in response to members' evolving energy diversification strategies, it sets out a clear vision to expand responsible sourcing programmes, grow RECOSI's global membership community, and strengthen industry leadership through collective action on shared sustainability challenges.
The Annual Report looks at significant progress across RECOSI's work programmes. This included the development within Bettercoal of a new Desktop Assessment Process to provide coal producers with an additional entry point into the Bettercoal Programme. The Bettercoal Desktop Assessment Process launched in H1 2026.
We also made substantial progress in developing the RECOSI Gas Programme. In 2025, work was completed on the first version of the Responsible Sourcing Criteria, which was launched in January2026, alongside continued development of the programme's Self-Assessment Questionnaire and Responsible Gas Assets framework. Together, these tools are designed to help companies assess ESG policies, performance and opportunities for improvement across gas supply chains.
Looking beyond its established programmes, RECOSI also began exploratory work to assess how it can support responsible sourcing practices within hydrogen and bio-energy supply chains, reflecting members' growing interest in emerging energy commodities.
The Annual Report also highlights RECOSI's continued engagement with members and stakeholders, including its annual members' event in Paris, which brought together industry leaders to discuss collaboration on global sustainability challenges.
Reflecting on the year, Executive Director Katie Warrick said: "2025 has been a landmark year for RECOSI. The launch of our first three-year strategy provides a clear direction for our organisation as we continue to build programmes that support responsible sourcing across multiple energy commodities. As we move into 2026, our focus will shift from programme development to implementation, stakeholder engagement and collaboration, ensuring we continue to deliver practical solutions that create lasting impact across global supply chains."
