Who we are & what we do

The Responsible Commodities Sourcing Initiative (RECOSI) is a global membership organisation that develops solutions to drive continuous improvement in responsible commodities sourcing that can have real world sustainability impacts.

Our members are the most forward-thinking energy and infrastructure companies, supporting RECOSI in developing ESG programmes for responsible commodities sourcing.

Our organisation has over a decade of experience in operating an international standard and assurance framework for coal.  Launched in 2012 Bettercoal’s purpose is to promote the continuous improvement in the mining and sourcing of coal. Bettercoal has continuously evolved over the last decade and as buyers’ energy sourcing strategies change the Programme will continue to adapt. To find out more please visit Bettercoal.

Building on our experience we have recently launched RECOSI Gas, a new ESG framework that brings buyers and suppliers closer across the global gas and LNG supply chain. It’s the first integrated framework for the gas sector that links corporate level risk-management evaluation with asset level ESG assessments.
