Published on May 09, 2025
London, UK – Responsible Commodities Sourcing Initiative (RECOSI) is pleased to welcome Europe’s largest port, the Port of Rotterdam, as its newest member, strengthening our efforts to advance ESG improvements across global energy supply chains.
With over a decade of experience, RECOSI develops sector-specific ESG frameworks that help members drive improvements in environmental performance, social impact and regulatory compliance across their energy commodities supply chains.
Katie Warrick, RECOSI Executive Director, welcomed Port of Rotterdam, stating: “The Port of Rotterdam joins RECOSI at a time of strategic growth, as we work collaboratively with our members to develop programmes that are aligned with their energy diversification strategies and support them in managing and mitigating risks in their supply chains. Our work tackles significant ESG issues, and a collaborative approach is essential for us to effect change. As we continue our work in building RECOSI Gas and look ahead to future programme development, we’re pleased to be working with Port of Rotterdam and bringing their expertise, experience and perspectives to our work”.
The Port of Rotterdam is Europe’s largest seaport and a vital gateway for global trade, energy and logistics. It is managed by the Port of Rotterdam Authority, which plays a key role in connecting international supply chains by sea, road, rail, and pipeline. Beyond its scale and efficiency, the port is known for its forward-looking approach, innovation, supporting the energy transition, and advancing sustainability across its operations.
Michiel Nijdam, Strategy Director Port of Rotterdam: "The Port of Rotterdam is connected to numerous supply chains. As a port authority, we act as the manager, operator, and developer of the port. We strive to handle this responsibility with care and, where necessary and appropriate, use our influence to improve environmental performance and enhance social impact. With our rapidly changing world and vast playing field, this is an ongoing task—one that is never truly finished. That is why we are pleased to exchange knowledge and experiences within the Responsible Commodities Sourcing Initiative, allowing us to elevate our efforts towards ensuring responsible global supply chains."
